Each month we'll have a different way for you to serve local foster families
so if you can't help this month, check back again soon to see what the needs are.
JANUARY: Stock the Foster Bridge freezer
We'll make meals that foster families can pick up to feed their (often large) families.
Instructions:
- Make a meal (or 2... or 10!) and FREEZE it. Since it's January, consider making SOUP or CHILI!
- Please make sure each dish is in its own disposable container. For casseroles, use the foil disposable pans WITH LIDS (please don't use tin foil; it doesn't hold up in the Foster Bridge freezer). For soups, use heavy duty plastic bags.
- Label each dish with: ingredients, complete cooking instructions, and approx. number of servings. Please securely tape this info to each dish.
- Drop your FROZEN meal(s) off at Live Oak on Sunday, 1/26. We'll have a big cooler ready to receive your meals during either first or second service.
Ideas/Ways to Get Involved:
- Get others involved! Consider asking your family to help. This is a great way to involve your kids/grandkids in service to our community.
- Plan a night for your Life Group to get together and make a bunch of meals together!
- Ask your friends, neighbors, or co-workers to help out! This also helps get the word out about foster needs in our area.
- Can't cook? Don't have time? Foster Bridge can ALWAYS use store-bought frozen meals (ideas: frozen breakfast items, chicken nuggets, lasagnas, etc)

FEBRUARY
2/15: Help provide childcare for foster families so parents can enjoy a much-needed date night. We'll be serving the two families we served at Christmas time.
MARCH
DATE TBD: Workday and spring cleaning for one of the foster families we served at Christmas time.

Live Oak seeks to serve local children in need through helping our friends at Gulf Coast Foster Bridge. Foster Bridge is a local ministry that supports foster families in our area. There are so many children in foster care in our area! Not everyone can foster, but everyone can support the families who do open their homes to children in crisis.
Among other things, Foster Bridge maintains a donation closet (so foster parents can get clothing and other items needed for the children in their care) and a freezer stocked with meals that foster parents can pick up as needed. The meals are particularly helpful when parents suddenly have more mouths to feed than usual.
